High Performance OPEN MRI
|
Unique to the area, our High Performance OPEN MRI is 200- 300%
more powerful than other OPEN MRI scanners, providing superior quality
and capabilities. We routinely perform advanced Neurologic, Orthopedic
and Body studies. This new scanner is also the most OPEN and patient
friendly MRI available. We provide the ultimate choice in quality
and comfort.
|
|
| What is MRI? |
|
Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI, is a dynamic technique
combining a magnetic field, radio waves, and computers to produce
extremely detailed 2D or 3D images of the human body. MRA, or magnetic
resonance angiography, creates similar images of the vascular system.
MRI is safe, comfortable, and painless. It uses no radiation, and
there are no known side effects.
|
| What will the exam be like?
|
|
An MRI exam will usually take between 20 45 minutes, depending
on the type of exam performed. However, you should allow extra time
in case the exam lasts longer than expected.
|
 |
Our truly OPEN MRI system has innovative features such as a sideways
entry couch providing the ultimate patient-friendly environment
for those who are anxious or claustrophobic. You will not feel anything
during your exam. You can even listen to a selection of music or
bring along a favorite CD. You will be in contact with the technologist
at all times.
|
|
Even when he or she is not in the MRI room, you
will be able to talk to him or her by intercom. Remember that it
is important to lie still during your exam. As in photography, movement
will blur the images.
|
| How do I get the results? |
 |
A specially trained MRI Radiologist
will interpret the images from your exam and send a report to
your physician as soon as it is available. Your physician will
then discuss the report with you. Because your exam is computer
generated, we can also send the digital images electronically
to be viewed by physicians in their offices. |
|
High
Field MRI
We also provide the areas most advanced 1.5T High Field MRI systems,
with state-of-the-art capabilities including advanced neurologic,
musculoskeletal, abdominal and contrast enhanced MR angiographic
studies.
|
Multi-Slice CT (CAT Scan)
We offer the regions most advanced
Multi-Slice CT scanners. CT is most commonly performed to evaluate
the head, sinuses, lungs and abdomen/ pelvis. Beyond routine CAT scan,
this powerful technology allows us to create 3D images of any part
of the body. We can even perform CT angiography exams, which in many
cases can substitute for conventional, invasive catheter angiography
that a patient might otherwise have to undergo. The scanners are so
advanced, we can perform entire studies of the chest, abdomen and
pelvis, for example, in 20 seconds.
|
|
Recognizing increasing patient interest, we also offer Lung and Full
Body CT cancer screening but only with a physicians order.
3D- Ultrasound
| Ultrasound is an imaging modality
that does not use any form of radiation. For that reason, it is a
very helpful Obstetric tool. Ultrasound can also be very useful in
evaluating various abdominal structures such as the liver, gallbladder
and kidneys as well as the pelvis and the vascular system. Our new
Ultrasound technology can even perform 3D studies. |
|
Digital X-Ray
| X-Rays are the oldest yet still the
most commonly performed imaging study. They can provide quick and
easily obtained medical information for conditions such as suspected
fractures, pneumonia or spinal pain. |
| Our units represent the
latest generation of X-Ray machines, which produces a digital image
that is processed and interpreted on a computer screen. No film is
generated however we can print and provide a film copy should the
referring physician require it. Since the images are digital, we can
also make the images available to your doctor through a secure internet
connection with our system. |

Digital Mammography- the Newest Technology
Bone Densitometry (DEXA)
This is a painless, quick evaluation of the spine and hips to assess for
the possibility of osteoporosis. Your doctor can help you determine if
you should be screened. Risk factors for osteoporosis including advanced
age, post menopause, certain medications, multiple fractures and a family
history of osteoporosis.
The National Osteoporosis Foundation estimates that osteoporosis will
affect one in every two women, and one in every five men. Osteoporosis
results in increased frequency of hip, spine and wrist fractures. Early
detection can help prevent further bone deterioration since medications
are now available for treatment.
Our state-of-the-art bone densitometer (DEXA) is recognized by the National
Osteoporosis Foundation as the most accurate bone density evaluation technique.
The exam takes about 10-15 minutes. |
