All Patients:
Please bring any related studies such as previous X-Rays,
CAT Scans, Ultrasounds or MRIs. Also bring all necessary insurance information
along with the referral slip signed by your doctor.
Please review the information related to your planned exam and note the
arrival times. If you have any questions regarding these instructions, please call and we
will be happy to assist you.
Small security lockers are available for essential items, however it is
best to leave most valuable items at home, including jewelry.
Please notify us if you are or think you might be pregnant.
Please notify us at least 24 hours in advance if you need to reschedule
your appointment so that we can arrange to accommodate another patient.
Our facility is a latex-free environment and fully handicapped accessible.

MRI

The exam is initially scheduled by you
or your referring physician. In addition to the initial scheduling,
you will need to also call our office as soon as possible for a
complete MRI screening (performed by phone), if this has not already
been completed.

food for 4 hours prior to exam.

may contain metallic material that can interfere with the study.

SPECIAL ATTENTION!
We will review pertinent screening information
with you during our phone interview and when you arrive at The Imaging
Institute. Some people cannot undergo an MRI exam or may need special
preparation. Because of this, it will be very important that you
inform us if you have any of the following:
A
cardiac pacemaker or implanted cardiac defibrillator.
A prosthetic
heart valve.
A history of
previous brain aneurysm surgery.
A history of
a metallic fragment injury to the eye.
A history of
a shrapnel wound.
Any implanted
metallic devices. For example,
prostheses,
limb replacements, Harrington
Rods, drug
infusion pumps, IUDs, neurostimulators,
ear and some
eye implants.
Body weight
more than 425 pounds.
In some cases, a family
member is welcome to stay in the room with you during your scan,
however, he or she will need to undergo the same screening process.

- Nothing to eat or drink after midnight for morning appointments.
Light breakfast (plain toast, juice, black tea, or coffee) prior
to 8 a.m. for afternoon appointments, then nothing to eat or drink
until after the examination.
